It is loud but you cannot expect hoods to be not loud and still takes odor out. We cook a lot and this does amazing job of keeping our house smelling good. Review: Clears the smoke!!! - So far so good. Everything came as ordered, quite powerful and not as noisy as the previous Broan that was in place which was rated for 450 CFM. The Ancona at its highest setting is less noisy than the broan and does an excellent job clearing up the smoke. I used to have to turn on my whole house fan to help clear the air but not anymore. Reason I gave 4 stars only was due to the fact that it was a beech installing this thing. It’s definitely a 3 man man job, 2 to hold it in place and 1 to screw the vent to the cabinet. They could’ve made it easier by designing a hook and screw hole that allows one to drill the screws in half way into the cabinet, line the unit up with the screws and simply slide it forward to keep it in place so it doesn’t fall while the screws are tighten one by one. Other than that, the unit looks great and performs wonderfully. Oh BTW, the handles that attaches to the grates need to be threaded properly so the screws can go in all the way for a nice tight fit. I bought this Range Hood after seeing the great feature list and the good feedback by a previous buyer. I was wrong. We bought this a month back for our new home and we started cooking few days back. The fans are very noisy and the cooking odors are everywhere in the home. It does not remove any odors.
