I have one cat and one litterbox. I totally scrub the litterbox every 3 weeks with soap and water and at that time add 1 jug in the litterbox. In between times, I periodically add additional litter as it goes down from scooping. I have never had to use a jug in one week. As directed, when you first put it in the box, it should be at least 3" deep so that it clumps good and makes it is easy to scoop all the waste out. I'm not sure why you are going through a jug a week, as you shouldn't be unless you have several litterboxes to fill.
