If you're not concerned with the mark being completely black, cold galvanizing spray works pretty good, but there is concern with fumes being toxic (make sure the laser is vented to the outdoors). NOTE: i shook up my little can for literally 1-2 minutes before each use and was able to get every drop of liquid out of the can. Make sure you do that or you might run out of propellant before you run out of product. From what I understand, Cermark is actually a fine glass powder that gets burned into the oxide layer of the metal. You can feel a raised surface there. It's much more prominent than anything else I've tried (plaster of paris, graphite dry lube, cold galvinizing spray).
