I've made a couple of 20-mile trips with them so far and am completely satisfied. However, the GPS unit comes with no manual so I had to email iTrue to learn what the LEDs on it mean. There is a little orange LED on one side and a blue one on the other. When you plug it into your powered-up camera, those two LEDs illuminate. When both begin flashing on/off, it means the unit has acquired the GPS satellite, just the opposite of what one would expect.I coil up most of the long cable and stash it and the small, flat unit out of sight above my passenger side sunscreen. But even though you can't see the LEDs, if you put it out of sight, you know when the GPS has been acquired because of the icon on the camera's display. The icon is in the form of a satellite dish. When the GPS signal has not been received, the color of the icon is gray. When the signal has been received, the icon turns blue. Nice.I had no trouble receiving the GPS signal when I tested it with the camera connected to my computer in my house.If you have set your camera for GPS, via the video setup menu, the GPS info is embedded in your video files when they are saved.The unit comes with viewer software on a mini-CD and a little bare-bones pamphlet showing how to use it. It loaded quickly on my Windows 7 computer. This software does a respectable job of displaying your recorded videos along with a Google Map showing your location. You can switch between Map and Satellite view. As your video plays, the Google locator icon moves along your route to show where you are at any particular moment. I found it to be extremely accurate. And I found the vehicle speed display (kph or mph), to be accurate to within minus 1to2 mph with respect to my car's speedometer - that is, the GPS info indicated I was usually going about 1 to 2 miles per hour slower than shown on my speedometer. My tires are well worn so that may account for the difference.When I first tried the viewer, the Google Map presentation failed to display. By trial and error, I learned that the viewer connects to Google Maps through Internet Explorer even though I always use Firefox as my default browser. When I went into Internet Explorer and set everything to the default settings, the problem went away. Apparently, I had set some scripting options to where Google Maps wouldn't work properly with the iTrue viewer..The one drawback of the viewer is it will not seamlessly play all of the file segments of your trip. You have to click the NEXT button to progress to the next segment or click on the next file name in the list. And the Google Map only shows your path for the segment you are playing.As a result, I went in search of another viewer that might have more features and work with the iTrue files. I found a free player online called Registrator Viewer. It is of Russian origin but is excellent. You can link all your trip segments together and the Google Map will show your entire trip from start to finish and play them in one continuous video, unless you chose otherwise. This program has many features which the iTrue viewer does not. As a result, I prefer it to the one provided by iTrue.I've attached photos that show the basic difference between the iTrue viewer and the Registrator Viewer. With the Registrator, my entire round trip is shown on the Google map, while only that part of the trip is shown for the video segment being displayed by the iTrue viewer. My vehicle is located by the little green arrow in the Registrator viewer image of the Google Map.The bottom line is that the iTrue GPS logger works perfectly with the iTrue x3 dashcam and the included viewer software does a nice job, which I think most people would find satisfactory. ### ⭐ 1.0 out of 5 stars easy to get a return *by D***H on Reviewed in the United States on December 23, 2016* No lights, ITrue X3 camera is working, shows "gps logging" symbol, but no lights on antenna. Drove around with it anyway to see what would happen. Software won't install on Windows 10, no manual, no instructions, other than how to install "special-case" for Windows XP. Got error "The wizard was interrupted before Driving Recorder Player could be completely installed." No idea where to get support. If the gps logs are embedded in the .MOV files then I need the software to install. Other gps loggers/cameras seem to put things in a gps folder but no such folder exists on my micro SD card.
