Add batteries and the Roku accepts it immediately. This is exactly what we were looking for to replace our old, worn out Roku remote. All of a sudden the original ROKU remote control just stopped working. Bought this and voila, we can use the unit again. The only slight complaint is that the remote control has to LITERALLY be pointed in the direction of the sensor otherwise it won't work.
