I don't know why some sellers use shipping dimensions. It's annoying. **Q: What is is made of?** A: Polyester. Its super soft fleece on one side and fluffy velboa on the other side. **Q: Is this thick and warm enough to use in winter for a new born? Also, can it be washed and dried in a machine?** A: I bought the Medallion pink one as a gift for my granddaughter who was born Dec 2nd. It washes and dries well on gentle/low heat. It is thicker and more plush than a regular cotton receiving blanket. I was happy with my purchase. **Q: If i wear my nb baby in a cotton sleep suit and a cotton sleep sack and this blanket, is it warm enough for her? my due day is january** A: Depends how warm you keep your home. I dress my baby similarly, but have a sheet between the blanket and my baby.
