My experience with all battery powered tools is that the batteries generate heat when used. Warm is normal, hot is not. **Q: How do you change the bulb? The cap doesn't unscrew when you turn it.** A: Sucks. Dont drop this B$$$H!!!! Went through YouTube tryen to figure out how to change the bulb. Went to Amazon for the reviews. Sucks. Now it’s going in the trash!!!! **Q: Does it take D batteries as well?** A: Oddly, it was designed for ONLY AA batteries, and it needs all 12. That's 18 volts. LED devices have gotten so advanced, they can design flashlights to run on 3 or more batteries of 1.5 volts each, and they can design them with various types of LED bulbs. No need to design a power supply of 18 volts then reduce it to 3 or 4 volts (for the bulbs). Im from WA USA and live in backwoods now i feel confident to go out at night with my dog withthis flashlight!!! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Blindingly powerful *by R***T on August 12, 2021* We live in a wooded area and are constantly hearing noises; a powerful flashlight is helpful when we are trying to ID the source of those noises. This flashlight is powerful in its low intensity mode and blinding in its high intensity mode - don't look into the lens as you turn it on. It comes with 12 AA batteries (DURACELL of course), but in high intensity mode the battery endurance is only about 2.5 hours, but is 30+ hours in low intensity mode. You can adjust the beam from pinpoint to wide angle just by sliding the head back and forth, which is very convenient. Overall we are very satisfied with the flashlight but we moderate its use in the high intensity mode.
