Perfect for those that don't understand how it feels to live this way. *by A***E on December 17, 2017* Bought this to read and if it was what I was looking for, to give a toddlers parents, hoping its short and to the point facts will be taken to heart, and that they will make the changes needed, rather than continuing to push and shame the child. If you need info without fluff, this is perfect. This should be one of those booklets that needs to be read by everyone, with and without children. It does a great job at explaining, first hand, what goes on in the mind and body of not just a child, but an adult that has learned to cope with this "too-much" world. Handing this to them will save me from the thousands of tears that would have been shed while trying to get them to listen to my first hand, been there, feel that, concerns. If your concerns have been brushed off or dismissed, buy this as a gift. Buy one for anyone who thinks that the HSC(ren) label is the latest excuse for poor behavior, rather than the difficult and misunderstood but beautifully special way some of us are hardwired. It's not a choice, it doesn't go away, we just learn more efficient ways to cope with it as we age. Both books are written in an easy to understand form. They are quick, easy reads that get straight to the point and tell you why your highly sensitive is different, why they respond and act the way they do, and how you can help them to understand themselves and negotiate the world around them in a more helpful and less stressed manner. It seems to have been written in haste with no editing. I read this book because I had an impending crisis upon my hand. It was recommended by a therapist who said that my son fit the criteria of a Highly Sensitive Child. I could not believe how much of this book was exactly about my son. I am grateful for the reference and having read it, I can now say, "I get it," when my child is acting out. We are not free from breakdowns, but I understand where he's coming from and it has made me more patient and less harsh with him. This is a quick and easy read for any caregiver of a Highly Sensitive Child. It will open your eyes and show you the world from their perspective-just like the title states.
