The minor issue is that the shield is covered with opaque plastic pieces so you are unable to see the nipple to be sure it is placed properly. This is a big issue particularly since this pump only comes in one size. If you use a smaller or larger shield than average on other pumps, it is impossible to see whether this one-size-fits-all shield is sized properly for you. Of course you will feel any sizing issues over time, but who wants to waste that time with either low milk production from a too large shield or pain and tenderness from a too small shield?My major complaint though is that the expressed milk just backs up into the shield and doesn't pour out into the bottle unless you lean far forward making the bottle almost horizontal with the ground. The first two times I used it, I assumed I had the shield placed wrong because no milk was pouring into the bottle. When I pulled the pump off to try placing it again, milk poured back down the shield and onto my clothes and floor. The third time, I leaned far forward and the milk finally poured down into the bottle.
