I Googled and in their online catalog they state the following: Small lockout locks out pipes 1/2" to 2 1/2" in diameter. The small lockout can also be used to lock valves OPEN on pipes from 1/2" to 1 1/4" in diameter. So it can lock CLOSED 1/2 to 2-1/2" pipes, lock OPEN 1/2 - 1-1/4" pipes. **Q: I have a valve that is attached to an air line comimg straight down a wall. Can this be used when the back of the valve is flush to the wall?** A: No it can't. The legs of the lock extend about 3/4" past the body of the valve.
