Series is LEAVING Nov 30 2022 :( *by J***Y on Reviewed in the United States on November 17, 2022* Don't be a Dummy like I was skipping over this Show for YEARS! both when on FX & when offered via Amazon.On one of those Days, after an Hour of scanning producing zero results, finally decided to try RESCUE ME being perhaps the ONLY Show or Movie I haven't watched! What a Surprise! Wound up in a BINGE-Festso great this Series was!Perhaps I continually passed on this Show being a bit jaded as a New Yorker for over 30 yrs and living through 9/11. Was a bit weary of yet another 9/11 oriented Show, Movie, Documentary, News Report ....etc etc. I'm not sure but I will admit I couldn't have been more wrong.I think the genuine care and Heartfelt Intentions to pay homage to Firefighters, particularly NY Fighters was one of the facets of Leary that shone through this Show - while not a huge Fan of Leary as a Stand UP Comedian but as a Comedy Writer seemed IMO, he found his niche.This Show was a balanced blend of Drama and Comedy. Because I binged it, the Characters became so developed that in my Mind I swear I would walk out my door and bump into one of them. Some of the scenarios were certainly Over the Top but its TV and one just has to "go with it" as one should. It always makes me laugh when I read Reviews pointing out inconsistencies, unbelievability factors and Time Line errors - it's ENTERTAINMENT!I do hope that if you're someone like me, who reads Reviews being selective about where you burn your "Watch Time" - I encourage you to just give the First Season a try - pretty positive you'll be hooked. I also hope you decide sooner than later as Amazon is ending the Series soon and you'll be bummed if you don't get to finish before you have to purchase.Hats Off to Denis Leary and his Tribute to our City's Firemen who on a daily basis, risk their Families, Homes and own Lives for us all. Not just the discs are the same, but the actual packaging for these sets, including the covers are included as well. Essentially this is just a large cover over the two sets previously available. So, if you have the other sets, there's nothing knew. Similarly, if you have 5.1, better stick with getting 5.2 when its on sale (if its still available). However, if you don't have either, this is the way to go, even though it's a slightly clunky packaging.As to the show, it feels like a return to form in many ways. Not that season 4 was bad, it just felt like the show was starting to show some signs of aging. Season 5 really ups the ante, and makes the show feels fresh again, something difficult for a show five seasons in its run. I was shocked by Michael J. Fox's performance, definitely out of character of his usual role, and rather impressive. He provided a great foil for Dennis's character, and was very fun to watch. I also felt the writing was stronger, giving the characters more interesting stories, and were generally speaking a lot of fun.
