Fermented foods are both delicious, and good for your health! They are also very easy and fun to make, and will keep for months if stored properly. Get started fermenting in your own kitchen today! This SVEN Ceramics fermentation crock was made by hand on a pottery wheel. The crock and the inside of the lid is glazed in a a Shino, which has a lot of variation in its color and pattern, though on this Black Mountain clay it always has a warm golden brown base. Sometimes carbon trapping occurs, which creates a cheetah-like effect in the glaze. Its the nature of the glaze to be unpredictable, which is something we like about it. Each crock is unique, and so may have variations in the glaze. Each crock holds 10 cups. What we love about this design is that the lid also doubles as a bowl, so you can try out your fermented goods once they're done. Two weights are included with the crock. They help keep the vegetables submerged in the liquid. The double lip acts as a seal when a little water is put into it, keeping the fermenting vegetables safe from airborne bacteria that can cause infection. A little hole in the lid allows the carbon dioxide to escape from the fermentation process. This crock holds 10 cups. Made in San Francisco.
