I have 2 other DAC wont mention any names because its only my personal opinion. I have it hooked to a Yamaha AS-701 with a Onkyo 730 cd player and a pair of Klipsch RS 81 speakers and this set up sounds very good not quite audiofile but very close. This set up sounded good before I added this DAC but now there is more definition a deeper sound stage and a little wormer sound. I like a lot of different music if it sounds good doesn't make any difference Rock,Country,Blues,Jazz or classic. I don't know about durability only time will determin that. I don't think any one would go wrong on buying this DAC. It has a headphone volume control which also will control a pair of powered speakers, You do have to set the volume control on the DAC even when hooked to a device like your amp and then set the volume on your amp, I just set the DAC volume to the halfway point and my amp seems to be where it would be without the DAC.The other DAC's I have also sound good for $299.00 each one. but there have already been a lot of reviews on them on here.I give this DAC 5 stars because of how fast it started sounding really good and the ease of use. If you have a audiofile system I don't think this DAC would improve your sound much if any. I do have a better system than this one and I would not put an outboard dac on it unless it was audiofile. The dac section is on par with my Luxman D-06 dac and the headphone drives my Hd-650 headphones to ear shattering levels at only 50% volume. The build quality is solid and something that one would not expect at this price. I've only been listening to it for about 30 minutes and I thought I had to write this review because it is that good. I can't wait until it burns in a bit.Update: Download the drivers from Olasonic's website. They will install the ASIO C-Media USB Device drivers. Use this option for playback in your software of choice such as Foobar. I'm an audiophile at my core and I know that proper power supply is crucial for great sound. I think they have done a great job filtering their switching power brick supply but I went and ordered a 15V iFi audiophile power supply.
