It is a bit thin, so the flatter the carpet the better. It would be a bit too wavy for thick carpet or shag **Q: Is this big enough for the wahoo kickr smart bike?** A: Yes! Since when does marketing dictate the function of a product? Both products are designed for a similar function. Its quite irrelevant to function what marketing was attached to it. Both mats are made out of PVC. The yoga mat seems to be focused on being "6P free" (which, according to google, means they do not contain these 6 types of phthalates: DEHP, DBP, BBP, DINP, DIDP, and DNOP) because it will be in direct contact with the user as opposed to a mat designed for a person riding a bike. Both seems to be listed as .24 inches thick. IMO I dont see much difference beyond maybe the texture of the surface (if any) and the dimensions it comes in. The bike-specific mat is more likely to come in a size format suitable for a bicycle trainer. **Q: Had a cheap mat. It got ripped from my cleats. Is this prone to that too?** A: I initially used SPD cleats with mountain style cycling shoes, then eventually switched to Xpedo road cleats (to match my Assioma pedals). Initially, when SPD cleats were concealed in the depression on the shoes' sole, the mat was intact. When I added shims under the cleats to fix some issues with knee tracking, cleats started protruding a little and started ripping the mat. At that point, I bought a cheap small floor mat, maybe 1x2 ft or 2x2 fit and put it on top of the mat in the area where I step on it with my foot when climbing the trainer. This solved the problem. The Wahoo mat gets damage when you step on it and rotate on your foot while getting the other leg over the frame of the trainer or bike. You probably can find a way to avoid such mat-ripping rotation, it depends from which direction you approach your trainer and how you get on it.
