Disappointed in QC, but open to changing my mind.

*by C***R on Reviewed in the United States on June 19, 2017*

Adding an update:Amazon shipped me a whole new unit as a replacement. (I am very satisfied with their service.) As I am not in the US but in Africa, I had also reached out to Powerbreather in Europe, but received nil response. (Less impressed by that for future spares service etc.)As to the product itself.I am very satisfied with my purchase. Yes, it takes a lot of getting used to. And if you have never done any significant swimming wearing a snorkel, it can feel very claustrophobic. Wearing goggles+powerbreather removes a lot of the sensory feedback that one is used to whenswimming. (It isn't some kind of futuristic force field mask that is hardly there.) I did not find breathing through this to take much more effort than natural breathing. Practise removing it quickly before use so that you can get it off if you inadvertently try to breathe as if you aren't wearing it - because you will end up choking. What it does do very well is allow focusing on perfecting swimming technique and, for someone less fit like me, upping the level of my cardio work-out without being sidetracked by stroke issues because I'm getting too breathless to swim properly. I have found it to be well worth the investment of learning to swim wearing it. (Strange looks at the gym aside.)Earlier review:Was very excited to take delivery today. Sadly haven't even got into the water with it yet, as one of the required speedvent attachments is defective. Vibrates loudly when I exhale and shows clear daylight around the membrane when held up to the light. Have reported this to both Amazon and Powerbreather. Now will wait and see whether aftersales support can fix poor QC.As an aside - packaging/zippered container it came in is very nice, suitable for permanent storage and carrying around. Unit fits my quite strangely shaped head very well. So we will see.

    My experience with the PowerBreather

*by Z***O on Reviewed in the United States on December 17, 2020*

I'm a senior citizen. I swim twice a week with fins and snorkel in a 25-meter pool. I do no flip turns and only kick as I have a bum shoulder. I do a mile-plus each sessionI bought the PowerBreather (Lap Edition) for two reasons. First, I felt it was better to breathe in fresh air that than to re-breathe the excelled air. Second and more importantly, I wanted to strength my breathing muscles. Since getting the PB, I start my swim with the PB and then switch to the regular snorkel to finish my workout. Here's my experience with the PowerBreather after about 8-weeks of use.1. The PowerBreather lives up to its name of being a power breather. At first, I could do only five laps with it before switching back to a regular snorkel to complete my mile. It has taken me 11 sessions to build up to where I can now do a half-a-mile with the PB. A younger person probably would not need as much time to get acclimated to the PB2. When I switch back to the regular snorkel after using ther PB, my breathing seems effortless. And I notice that I'm swimming harder and faster.3. Also after my swim workout, I'm do feel as fatigued as I use to.4. I notice that the mouth piece of the PB is far superior to that of my regular snorkel. It just fits and creates a better seal with my mouth than the traditional snorkel does.5. One the few occasions when I get water in the PB, it is easily expelled when I exhale, and I don't miss a beat.6. This may apply just to me, but I notice I swim better with the PB when I inhale near the max but don't exhale as hard.I have two negative things to say about the PB.1. Sometime a high pitch whistling sound comes from one of the tubes. I wrote to PowerBreather through their website about this -- they're in Germany -- but got no response. I still do not know if the whistle is inherent in the design or if I have a defective "Speed Vent." The noise only come from one side.2. Because of the whistling sound, I wanted to return the PB. I got a Return Authorization through Amazon easy enough but when I went to return it by UPS, I found it would have cost me $40. That's because it was going to Spain. So I kept the PB and put up with the occasional whistle. Conclusion: I'm satisfied with the PB. If for any reason it got lost, I'd immediately get another. I think the PB is a great health improvement aid and no doubt would improve a person's swimming. The PB is not for everybody, however, because it is noticeably harder to breathe with it than with a traditional snorkel. To use it effectively takes a little persistence.

    Super Sportgerät

*by M***. on Reviewed in Germany on February 13, 2020*

Kein langes hin und her.
