Then look at the price of the device you are thinking of purchasing.If the price of the device you are looking at is significantly lower than the cost of the market average, it's probably a fake drive. This applies to name brand flash storage as well. Just because it has a name brand label doesn't mean it's actually a name brand storage device. (Fraudsters like to put fake labels on flash storage) If it's being sold at a small fraction of the price of similar capacity drives, you should be highly suspect that its a fake drive.256GB of storage simply is not obtainable for under $25. It should cost around $60-$75 for 256GB of flash storage as of early 2016. If it costs less, there is a very good chance it's a fake drive.What happens is that every SD card. thumb drive, hard drive, etc etc etc tells the computer reading it how big of a drive it is. That information gets hacked by nefarious people who change the stats on an 8GB card to say it's a 512GB card. Your computer sees that information and displays 512GB of available storage and everything looks great.
