I read a lot and talked to experts and I made the right decision. It is however, a learning curve. The nice thing about this is it makes you "produce" something since you are making it happen with manually playing with all the options you have. The light issue is tricky and if you are like me, learning; make sure that you are aware of needing strong light. Macro is wonderful and a world of its own.Louise (the seller) has been great and she is there to help and answer questions. Go for it... it is 1/20 the price of a complicated large lens and this is the gateway to macro photography. anyway. I have a Nikon D80 and three lenses. Two different 18-55mm and one 55-200mm. I could get the +1 and +2 zoom filters to work alright, the +4 and +10 filters I could not get to produce an image. The same with the extension tube, all I could get are black images. Using all three of the lenses I have, and a multitude of settings, all while having the lens and camera on manual focus.All the items are pretty well made other than that. Very sturdy metal.
