## Description

The IQ110 connects to nearly any charcoal or wood fueled barbecue pit. Here's the amazing part: You set the cooking temperature on the dial and it then regulates the cooking temperature just like a kitchen oven does. In fact, it regulates the cooking temperature BETTER than most kitchen ovens! And better than a kitchen oven, your foods cook in a smoky environment that is naturally moist resulting in foods that are juicy, fall-off-the-bone tender, and simply delicious. The IQ110 is installed on most cookers without tools. First, the standard adapter is attached to a lower fire vent using the thumb/toggle bolt. The remaining two lower vents are then sealed with the included high temperature aluminum tape. The IQ110 's air hose is then connected to the adapter. Finally, the temperature sensor is attached to the cooking grate and plugged into the IQ110. The only thing left is to get hungry! Review: Great for long cooks - Full disclosure: I bought this directly from the manufacturer about a year and a half ago. (Sorry, desertcart) I have a couple of gadgets I use for Low N Slow cooks and this is one of them. I usually combine mine with the Slow N Seer and it works really well. I just cooked some ribs in 30 degree weather and got 5 full hours with zero vent adjustments necessary during the cook. I wasn't surprised to see the mixed reviews of this product. It's sort of counter intuitive. They want you to close off all intake and exhaust vents except for the one the IQ110 is blowing air through. When I first started, I didn't trust it. I left the exhaust vent open and got mixed results. They also advise you to light about half the usual amount of charcoal you normally use to get the fire started. That also took me a few tries to get used to, again with mixed results. Finally, I did a practice cook where I actually followed the instructions. I lit just 6 coals. I closed all the vents. It ran much better than it did before but after a few hours the temperature very slowly crept up, I read the instruction manual again and learned about the adjustable intake damper settings; which is kind of an allowance built into the fan for leaky grills. I found out that a setting of 1 in the IQ intake damper locks in the temp with very little variation. So if you're looking for a really good, although counter intuitive way to control your temps for long cooks, look no more. Nothing is perfect however, and the IQ110 does have some drawbacks. First, it doesn't have a dedicated food probe. If you're like me you have about 3 of them so that's no big deal. Second, as many people have mentioned in the reviews, the probes are delicate. I have a grill grommet installed in my Weber and I think it's kept the probe out of trouble, but I'm still very careful with it. Third, and this has also been mentioned, the air hose won't take a lot of heat and will melt. Since I use it exclusively for indirect cooks this hasn't been a problem for me. Finally, the fan casing seems a bit fragile and the unit is totally devoid of any fancy bells and whistles. it does one thing-hold temp. In my opinion these are minor issues, soI have no problem recommending the IQ110.
Review: Five Stars - Fantastic product! Great customer service! Had problem company solved immediately. Update. I used this past weekend. It worked fantastic! I used ring of fire method as manufacturer and others had suggested. Fyi i have been smoking and grilling for over 30 years. I currently own 4 smokers but i purchased this for my acorn kamado. I smoked a cross rib roast and chicken and country style pork ribs. It held the temp right at 250 whereni had set it. The only problemni had was caused by me. I shut the air duct to 1 and smothered the fire but opened it to 4 and it rekindled right back to 250. I'm extremely pleased at how well this works and as i learn the idiosyncrasies of kamado and iq110 it'll be even easier. Also as i wrote ealier pitmaster is an excellent company superior customer service! I love companies like this. I owned and operated a retail business for 20 years and i appreciate good customer service. The iq110 just works great. Maybe next year I'll get the one that communicates with my smartphone. Definitely follow directions and recommendations and it'll work fine for you. Also i used lump charcoal with chunks of hickory spaced in between. This was the first time I've done ring of method. Food disappeared quickly which always tells me i did it right. This was my grandson's birthday so getting it right was very important. Thanks pitmaster. Here's another update. I used this today to smoke an injected 4lb chicken. I was too lazy and somewhat curious to see if it would work the same as it did with the ring of fire. I added some lump to the basket put in some chunks of hickory on top of the pile used only 1 starter cube and lit it. Also i didn't use the stone for indirect just put it in the middle when it reached 300 which was the target temp. I connected the power to iq and just sat back. I also used my maverick temp probe which was close to the iq probe clipped on the warming grate. It exceeded my expectations and kept the temp very close to 300 the whole cooking time. I did fiddle with the air vent on the iq and set it down to 1 and set the chimney vent to 1. There was a little more fiddling with this setup than the ring of fire but very little. Hope this helps. The unit works very well. update 4/18. Today i needed to smoke some baby back ribs but due to little league opening day, grandson's game i couldn't start these til later. Put charcoal and hardwood in kamodo and attached the iq110. It didn't take long to get to temp, today is 250, and it's just doing a gteat job. I didn't have time to do the ring of fire method but it's working great. Will update as i go.

**Q: I plan to use this on both a Weber 22 1/2" kettle and 18 WSM, how much do you open the top damper to set it and forget it?**
A: I always leave the top damper open 100%.  I've found that I don't need to fine tune the dampers when using this.  The bottom dampers are obviously closed, with the exception of the damper the fan is using.

**Q: What is the max cook time can expect on an 18" WSM @225 to 250 using briquettes & lump**
A: I have a webber kettle , mine will cook 12 hours at 250..and keep the temperature within 20 degrees...best investment i have made for grilling..

**Q: Will this work with a firm smoker**
A: Not sure what a "firm smoker" is . If the smoker is sealed well, pitmaster IQ will regulate the temperature by controlling the air flow.

**Q: What are the differences between the 110 and the 120?**
A: The 120 has a digital temp display that the 110 does not have.  With the 110 you only know whether you are over, under or at temp.  With the 120 you can read the actual temp at all times.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Essential equipment for much less than other temp regulators.

I purchased an IQ110 about 8 months ago at the start of the summer. I Have a Weber 18.5 WSM which I love but like some other reviewers I was using it less and less because of the constant monitoring required. While that is part of the fun of BBQing, it wasn't practical. I was skeptical of the IQ110 because of its low price point compared to other regulators and at the time there were far fewer reviews. Well, I could not be happier. I am using my smoker way more and the results are better than they've ever been. I use Kingsford blue bag set up with the minion method and have been getting great results with minimal attending to the smoker. For long cooks (over 10 hours) I have to add more fuel half way through. That's it. I did do a few things to make life easier - I always place the fan unit on a table away from the smoker so it isn't exposed to a lot of heat. I made a little cover for it out of half a 2 liter bottle so dew or any overnight showers wouldn't get the unit wet. It's worked flawlessly every time. It's been a true "set it and forget it" experience for me. If you're looking at this unit you've probably seen some of the other, more expensive offerings for temp regulators. My inner gear geek wanted to go with one of those super precise, blu tooth capable units. I am really glad i saved the money and went with the IQ. The plus/minus 10 degree range is more than adequate for BBQ. You're smoking meat not baking pastry; don't over think it. When I was checking manually every hour my results were never this good. The biggest relief is now I can focus on the other aspects of entertaining (preparing sides, making drinks, mingling with guests) and not worry about the meat. I know when it'll be ready and what it will taste and look like. Ultimately it's a huge time saver which makes having lots of people over for BBQ a lot more fun.
