Maxell 'standard' AA alkaline batteries seem to be rated at about 2250mAh. By comparison, Duracell/Energizer 'standard' batteries seem to be rated at about 2350mAh. (Procell, etc. have higher ratings -- and considerably higher prices.) So, the Maxell's don't quite last as long (95%?), but their price is significantly lower. **Q: Where are these made?** A: Rayovac are made in the US, have different types of AA for different types of devices, and the packaging is pretty good for storing the unused batteries. **Q: The picture in the ad shows expiration date of Jan 2015. Thats way too short. Is that the date on the battery you received???** A: I just received ones with an expiry date of 07/2019. They must be really old stock. **Q: Do these contain mercury?** A: They're alkaline batteries and not rechargeabe. According to our hazardous waste guidelines you can just put akaline batteries in the regulartrash. If they had mercury they probably would have to be disposed of differently. Found these to work nicely in a lot of his toys, but they don't last as long as some of the other brands. Don't get me wrong, I'll continue to buy and use these, but they seem to be better off used for items that don't require continues use (TV remotes, alarm clock backup batteries, child toys that make sounds, or to keep around in the event of an emergency. If you're buying these for high powered devices, such as digital cameras with flash, or anything like that, you'll notice the batteries die quickly. They are however, very great batteries for the price and so far I've been happy with their shortcomings for the prices.
