It can be a very interactive book - my grandson kisses the sad baby, “washes” the face of the dirty baby, laughs with the laughing baby - and we talk a lot about why the babies might be feeling the way they are feeling. It was pointed out in a review for a different, but similar, book that different races were portrayed in an unfair way. That is not the case at all with this book. All races are represented and all the pictured babies are adorable. The book itself is soft and small, and short enough that I don’t mind reading it multiple times a day. Our daughter loves it when we imitate the emotions and expressions on each page for her. I feel like we are really helping her social and emotional development. I’ve even used it when she is having a tantrum, showing her the picture of tired, angry, etc. and asking her which one she is feeling. Amazingly, she usually picks the correct one and it distracts and deescalates her. She flips though it all the time on her own and carries it all over the house. One of the top 3 baby purchases we made. *by R***A on September 23, 2020* Would give 100 stars if I could. I honestly wouldn't know what we would do without it. After a brief scare one afternoon where we couldn't find it, we actually bought a second one (we later discovered that our 10 month old daughter started throwing toys in the trash that is outside of her playyard out of her reach - daddy is so proud of his little basketballer ;-) This book has a baby face on each page with a simple word underneath each face. When we first received it, I never thought that this would become such an essential item. Our daughter first got obsessed with it around 3 months and since roughly age 6 months requests to have it read again and again and again and again... Even at 10 months it can still distract her, cheer her up, fascinate her, occupy her, keep her busy. My husband curses this book for having to read it so often but at the same time adores it for being such a life safer. If we could only have 3 toys with us while being stuck somewhere with our daughter, this would be one of our choices to bring.
