Review: Must Have for TiVo w/ Mini! - I recently had a TiVo Premier XL4 that died. I had it as the MoCa "server" and have a 2nd generation Mini that was connected via MoCa and it worked great! I replaced the XL4 with the BOLT 1TB and couldn't get the Mini to connect via MoCa. It kept throwing an error when trying to connect with it. Ethernet worked fine but the throughput wasn't the best and at times the Mini would lag. After a little research (since TiVo support is always useless) I found that someone was having a very similar situation but with a Roamio and a Point of Entry (PoE) Filter solved their issue. I ordered this (at the time with Prime shipping) and installed it at the other end of the feed Charter had brought into my house that connected to their connection outside. The connection outside has a fancy rubber enclosure around their line from the outside and the line that runs into my house that I didn't want to destroy. Prior to installation I ran a speed test on my internet connection. Since I knew where the other end of the main feed was I installed it on the input/uplink port of the 8 port splitter/amp. To confirm I was correct about it being the feed, I disconnected that cable and verified that none of the bedrooms had service and that the Internet was down before doing so. Once the feed was connected again I confirmed everything was working and that my internet speeds were where they were previously. Next, I went to my Mini, unplugged the Ethernet cable and changed the network settings to MoCa and within seconds it asked how the system should get its IP address, which was further then I ever got before with the BOLT as the server. Once I finished the rest of the prompts I was up and operational. So far zero lag going with MoCa vs Ethernet! I'm very pleased with how this played out! It's very critical that this filter gets installed either outside between where the service comes to the house and goes into the house or how I did it. This should come with all TiVo Mini's by default!
