    Not Really Usable

This is a decorative piece and not useful as an actual navigational device.  I bought this as a Christmas gift for my brother who is studying for his captains license.  When we opened it up, the degree indicator ring was backwards!  A compass reads from 0° (due North) to 360° in a clockwise direction around the dial.  Not this one!  It runs counter clockwise!  I suppose one could swap every coordinate by the equivilant degree in the opposite direction...or just guess.  Also, the compass comes with a stopper device...that is labeled "stoper" with one "p".  Very poor quality control and lack of attention to detail.  Pretty box and otherwise nice, shiny brass shelf decoration.

This is a truly beautiful compass in a beautiful wooden box, obviously high quality and well made. It is an ideal gift, especially for military navigators, aviators, or sailing enthusiasts. The company's customer service is also excellent. I received one that had a bubble in the glass. I emailed the company and they immediately sent me a replacement along with a return shipping label so everything was completely simple and at no cost to me. I would highly recommend this item and this company.

Excellent quality - the compass is well made and heavy duty - great for both navigation and a "paper weight" for holding down charts in a light breeze.  The hardwood case is also very well made, making the compass and hardwood case a very suitable gift.  I'm very pleased with this purchase!
