Review: but does a great job and is so small and light for minimalist ... - it may pump a bit slow, but does a great job and is so small and light for minimalist backpacking!!! Love it!
Review: I don't know maybe I should have given four stars... - Okay first of all this filter either comes with a totally useless camouflaged pouch or a pretty cool little box kind like a glasses case. The filter is a ceramic cylinder filled with carbon, thus a duel filtration system that apparently filters down to 0.1 micron or as well as major name brand pump type filters at a fraction of the cost and more importantly at a fraction of the weight in your pack. So here are the pros and the cons. Cons... 1, this bad boy is flimsy and loosing parts in the back country is a real risk, particularity the little adapter that fits the export hose to the filter unit (hey PureEasy why not permanently attach that puppy hu) 2, this boy boy is "flimsy" and "breaking parts" in the back country is a real risk, especially the ceramic cylinder within the filter unit which is easily clogged and will need to be removed for maintenance, once removed this little ceramic cylinder is as fragile as glass and even a light tap on a hard rock could spell disaster if this is your only way to process water in the back country. 3, As previously mentioned this filter becomes clogged fast and easy even when filtering relatively clean, clear, artisan mountain spring water and the filter will need to be maintained in the field to unclog it. 4, As very small ceramic filter one major disadvantage is the amount of pure force one must exude just to pump water through this filter even in ideal conditions. Okay now the pros 1, This good little fellow is light, about three ounces light in fact. 2, This little guy is little, about the size a a pair of glasses, I sometimes put one in my pocket for day hikes. 3, The PureEasy soldier filter really is very reliable, if you use it correctly and by correctly I mean take care not to lose or break the pieces during in field maintenance. 4, I looked all over the internet and it looks like this filter, filters down to 0.1 micron, if this is true than that makes this filter quite sufficient and an equal contender with every other pump type, straw type or gravity fed filtration unit on the market today. 5, If you are lucky enough to get one that comes in a glasses case type box than you are a winner in the game of PureEasy because the box is perfect for this little filter and really does solve many of the frailty issues this filter otherwise may present. In summery I have bought three of them so yes I would buy it again. Would I trust my life to it... well I put one in my daughter's emergency kit so I would trust the only thing more valuable than my life to it. Also I use one in the field pretty often on pretty nasty water sometimes too and I'm not dead yet. I only gave it three stars primarily because of the high amount of in field maintenance and the risks presented during such maintenance and the amount of calories burned and muscle fatigue caused by the necessary force of operation when using such a small pump type ceramic filter and equally priced straw or gravity filters will do the same job with none of these draw backs. All of that aside like many others I just really like pump type filters, they're cool, I can fill up my canteen or my Camelback and keep moving, I can filter water for others and I can drop the hose in between rocks to access puddles in desert conditions. I don't know maybe I should have given it four stars.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good buy.
*by J***N on September 3, 2014*

I was a bit hesitant to purchase this, but after heavy use this weekend, I can say that I'm exceedingly happy. The unit is really tiny, which I find advantageous as it fits just about anywhere - even your pocket. It's not the greatest quality device in the world, but it does feel very sturdy. There's not a whole lot to it, which I also find to be an advantage - less to break. I was using a Sawyer filter and still carry it as a backup/spare and can't say that using this is any faster. I do think it is less trouble when filtering directly from the source, however. I did find that the filter is a little finicky in that the filter chamber needs to have some water in it in order to get a suction going most of the time. Not a big deal as it only took a few seconds to unscrew and pour a little "starter fluid" in there. Also, while the small pre-filter at the end of the intake hose works well, it is prone to quickly clog if you get it too close to the bottom of your stream, or are trying to filter extremely dirty water. I also found that you need to keep it away from the sides of your water bag if using that as a source. Finally, I would like to have had an additional 6"-1' of fill-end hose, but I wouldn't say it's too short. End product was great. My son and I drank over 5L through it this weekend and neither of us got sick! All you can ask for! I'm very happy with it and would not hesitate to buy again.
