I tried to use a side mount but it was waaay to small for the handlebar. I have a Trek Madone road bike and the handlebars are heavy. So, i bought this beauty instead. I chose it because i liked the color and i have a Black and Yellow carbon fiber bike. It fit the handlebar forward mounts on the bottom and i had to use the little plastic sleeves in order to have it stick out far enough. Dont forget to really tighten it well - i did not and my handle bars were moving during my ride. Not fun.
