My desktop has USB, so the USB cradle comes with the Visor fits the bill. But my laptop does not have USB. There are three options available. First is of course to live without a second cradle for a while, because I might soon buy a new laptop. Who knows! Second is to buy a PCMCIA card adapter for UBS port. Third is to buy Handspring's serial port cradle. It's not a big decision, but it's not an easy one either. I in fact mulled over this for a while before deciding to take the serial cradle. The main reasoning for getting the serial cradle is that I figure I need a second cradle anyway, one at home and one at work. Yes the serial cradle is much slower than the USB, but Palm users have alway used the slow serial port sync, and they still do. With this respect, I must thank Handspring for introducing a fast USB sync while at the same time making a serial port cradle available. As a standing alone product, I would rate it four star due the lack of speed, but as an option within a complete product line, the serial cradle deserves a solid five star. ### ⭐⭐⭐ 3.0 out of 5 stars ok but slow *by J***T on Reviewed in the United States on June 13, 2000* This is a nice alternative to the usb if you don't have usb accessible computer, but the drawback is the lack in speed which is considerable. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars This is a good alternative for Palm Developers *by L***B on Reviewed in the United States on November 22, 2000* I was developing software for Handspring using CodeWarrior. Unfortunately the current CodeWarrior(c) does not support USB yet, so I have to look for a serial cradle for Handspring.
