(Stir well before applying to distribute the glitter throughout.) This is a multi-colored, iridescent glitter (holographic-like), not a solid silver. I would've been happy with a single silver color, but I'm very happy with this iridescent, also. It's not gaudy or childish looking. I liked the subtle, yet noticeable, effect after only a single coat, so I left it at that. Whether you want to add more coats (and more sparkle) is a personal choice, depending on the look you're going for. The glitter is fine textured so painting over it should be no problem, no preremoval necessary (at least not after the one coat I applied). Because my "moon" is high enough on the wall to be out of reach, I didn't put any kind of top coat over this glittery Mod Podge. If it was within reach or put on an item meant to be used, I would have top coated it since some of the glitter comes off when I wipe my hand lightly over it. (Probably would've tried 2-3 coats of "plain" Mod Podge over top.) As with all the Mod Podge products I've used through the years, I'm now a new fan of this glittery addition.
