I have several of these lanterns, and I just tried it on one by rotating the battery four times, and each time, the light came on when I screwed the lens cover back on. **Q: Is the led or bulb replaceable?** A: I no longer own this lantern. It had a "Krypton" (filament type) bulb powered by a heavy 6 volt battery which contains 8 "D" cells and which is quite costly to replace. To answer your question - if memory serves me the bulb was replaceable but I never considered doing that. I have replaced my 5 filament bulb lanterns with ones using LED bulbs and powered by "AA" or "C" cells in multiples of two or four. Cheaper batteries, longer useful life and brighter light in a less heavy package equals satisfaction for me. **Q: Is the battery rechargeable ?** A: No the battery is not rechargeable but you can covert your 6v lantern battery to a 4 “D” battery adapter, then install rechargeable D batteries. **Q: Does it used mn 908** A: Yes it uses the large 6 volt battery.
