I have bags I cannot use because they are heavy, but this one is actually fine. **Q: Is it awkward to open this bag with out exposing everything or items falling out of main compartment** A: This bag was a present for my wife - it is now the only backpack she will wear. The opening is the same as any other backpack except that the zip is not on the outside where anyone could open it, but on the inside against your back so it is unlikely that it can be opened without you feeling something. **Q: Can this hold a 13 inch laptop?** A: Technically yes, but I found it impossible to put it through the main cavity opening. The quality is very good and it provides adequate pockets. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because I expected it to include a cross body strap.
