But in all honesty it is for casual phone users despite the price point. An upgrade to a cheaper Rode mic or the MKE 400 will give you much better audio quality. This MKE 200 is definitely better than using a phone mic, and the preamp is needed on a camera to make this sound loud enough which can introduce some noise.
