I think. We just got a puppy and have noticed that there are smells that weren't there before, so clearly we aren't watching him enough. This has helped us identify places where he 'hangs' out that we weren't aware of.I will say that the lack of directions (although, how hard is put batteries in, and turn on) makes it more interesting to identify what is pee and what is just 'stuff'. I think there is a lot more 'stuff' that I would like to be able to identify but I'm sure a $10 torch isn't going to help me there. Still, turn off the lights and use this to check out your space...it will be an eye opener. I live in a 100 year old house so I'm sure there are years worth of 'stuff' on the wooden floors all around my house. This light definitely let us know what we'd been missing! So much so, there was a small part of me that wished I didn't even know.Cons: we live in a place with lots of natural light so most of our searches have to be conducted after dark for best results. Also, when we used it with batteries that were a bit older, we had to get much closer to the ground in order to see the spots.Other than that, there isn't a thing about this light I don't love. There were no instructions included, but I quickly figured out that the battery cartridge takes 3 AAA batteries (not included). To use, simply press the back end of the flashlight to toggle to rubbery switch.The unit is just under 4 inches long; very small and easy to carry or store. The blacklight works well in illuminating all sorts of stains and substances not visible in normal light.
