You can put a 28cm frying pan on it no trouble. But it does heat a 15cm circle in the centre strongest so the food nearest the centre will cook hotter. But it is easy to move most food around and we cook fryups, bolognese sauces etc. on it all the time. I put the great big pressure cooker on it as it is the only hob we have that can simmer properly. I hope that helps! **Q: I want to boil sugar to a hard crack (150c) - does this allow setting the temperature to 150C?** A: Just about all the table top induction hobs have a max wattage of 2 kW. Easily able to heat your sugar to the temperature you need. The Duxtop is a great piece of kit. Ignore comments that people’s pans don’t heat up - they aren’t using pans for induction. **Q: Can this be used was a car 12v inverter rated at 240v 1kW??** A: The power consumed by the Hob is about 2kW. Lowest continuous power of this one is 660w and the pulse for lesser powers seems more regular. Also, temperature control option is pretty accurate. If used with a decent, thick-based pan then all good! Photo is from a 32cm pan. Too big for it really. Smaller pans distribute the heat much better. All the usual benefits of induction, obviously. Back here to say after 18 months of use it's still going strong.
