No need to yank, just pull straight back toward the rear of the tick (like you're plucking a hair the correct way). It's amazing. **Q: How well does it work on the teeny tiny deer ticks (size of the head of a pin) like we have in Northeast?** A: The Tick Key has worked multiple times for me on teeny tiny deer ticks. You have to use it properly and put the head of the tick at the small opening of the Tick Key, press down into the skin and pull gently until the tick releases. The ticks were the size of a pin head or smaller, came out head and all. Love that it fits in my wallet too. **Q: How does it work?** A: It works but not great, and is overpriced, paid $6+ for something that isn't worth $0.50, looked like I was getting 10 the way it was advertised. I also love the orange because it's so easy to find and spot. It's sturdy and doesn't bend or warp. Just this morning, I found a tick by my dog's ear. Like always, it removed the entire tick without leaving a bit behind. It was a much more sensitive area with more contours than his body, but after trying a few different angles, I was able to remove it. First pictures are of where the tick was. The tick is still alive afterward as shown in the video and you can see it's in tact. In the after photos, you can see the small red marks where it attached. (The brown blobs looks scary, but is just skin pigmentation/freckles.)
