Review: Good enough for me and easy to understand. Great buy - I have had a lot of cheap multimeters. They were hard to read and harder to really understand the settings and I never could figure them out the 3-4 times a year I might need to use one. This meter is much better and perfect for me for basic work around the house. As my first use for this meter, I wanted to test a AC unit capacitor to see if it was bad. This meter has that setting and worked great confirming it was bad, so I replaced the capacitor myself for $20 bucks vs a $200+ AC repairman! The meter is good size, about the size of your hand. Display is large and easy to read. Backlight display is really bright. It has a "contact" voltage setting. Hold it to an outlet/switch or power cord and it will show bars if it detects power. Can test 120 volts, car battery or quickly all small battery sizes. Also has a beeper for test continuity/broken wires etc. . To me it has everything the "average joe homeowner" needs, is not overly complex and easy to understand settings. I thought about spending more, but after getting this for under $20 bucks, this was the best decision and best value. Does everything I will ever need with easy to read and understand settings. There are a lot of reviews on YT that show you have to use this model and shows it has good accuracy as well. I am happy with it.

**Q: Can you test a car battery and alternator with this?**
A: Hi! Yes, this is an excellent multi-meter with which you can do that. A fully-charged auto battery will read between 12.5 and 12.8 VDC. You can check your vehicle's alternator by attaching the multi-meter's black and red leads to the black and red battery posts while the engine is at idle. With no accessories on (radio off, etc) you should read 13.7 to 13.9 VDC. IF the vehicle has an AGM type battery in it, then the voltage reading, no load, should be around 13.5 VDC. You can now check the alternator voltage output with a load on it. Turn on some accessories in the vehicle, like the A/C, the radio and the headlights - the alternator's voltage output shouldn't vary more than a 0.1 of a volt from the no-load reading. If the voltage reading drops significantly, then the voltage regulator inside the alternator has failed. These are simple tests that you can make in your driveway with your multi-meter. If you want more sophisticated testing of your battery or alternator, you'll have to take your vehicle to an auto repair shop.........I hope that this helps you a little.

Nice meter for the price, better than HF. Only reason for 4 stars, the alligator clips are worthless because of the poor mechanical connection it uses. Looks to me that they used same connection method that you use to connect to crimp to a wire.
