Review: If you want 15 watts, THIS is the transmitter you want. - I did a lot of research on these little transmitters before making a purchase. I chose this one over the other "CZE" type transmitters. Granted, it's quite possible that this transmitter has CZE internal parts (they look very, very similar, except for the back panel). However, this one has more features than the CZE boxes, and often at a lesser price. First of all, 15 watts is a lot of power for a little FM transmitter like this. If you're going to use the (inferior) little "rubber ducky" antenna they include with the transmitter, then you might need that power to get the signal to reach the areas you want. I *highly* recommend using a different antenna. Either a dipole, or a ground plane (my personal choice, like the GP100 which you can find here on desertcart). By simply replacing the antenna, you can increase your range by 3x to 5x or more. It is absolutely worth purchasing a separate antenna if you want to reach beyond a block or two. The included antenna simply can't cut it. With one of those separate antennas, and the 15 watts of power form this transmitter, you can easily reach 10 miles or more if you mount your antenna on a rooftop or even a balcony. Next, a note on sound quality. FM radio transmitters do something called "pre-emphasis", meaning it changes the sound before it transmits the signal. Then, the receiving radio does "de-emphasis" to reverse that change. The result gives you a better sound when listening on your radio. If you live outside of the USA, this emphasis is done one way (50μs). But the USA uses a different kind of emphasis (75μs). The end result is that transmitters built to be used anywhere other than the USA produce a more bass-heavy sound. Although this transmitter broadcasts at 50μs, it includes ways to compensate for this by providing some very basic equalization presets. "normal", "pop" "rock" "jazz" "classical" and "bass". Depending on what your program material is, you can use these to tweak the sound which is a great workaround for the pre-emphasis difference if you're within the USA. Ny favorite thing about this transmitter, however, is one key feature that none of the others have. That is, the ability to plug a USB stick into the transmitter and have it automatically loop or shuffle audio files on the USB drive. This allows you to pre-record your program material, plug it in, then set it and forget it. It's not necessary to have a computer or microphone connected to it constantly. If you pre-record your material for whatever reason, it makes this very easy to play back. You can also connect to it via bluetooth if you want to transmit music from your phone, for example, to FM radios within your house or office. It also has basics that the CZE line of transmitters have. Cooling fans (a little noisy but work well with no overheating), and minimal power requirements (you can run the thing for days by hooking it up to a fully charged car battery). Oh, one last comment. You'll see in the description that this transmitter can broadcast RDS signals. RDS is the feature that sends text to your radio. It's how commercial stations send the song title and artist to your radio's display when you're listening to them. While it's true this transmitter will do RDS, the software the manufacture provides - if you can manage to locate it - does NOT work. To even find this software package, you have to do some deep googling. Then once you install and run it (which requires a password that they do not include - which is 123456) the RDS feature doesn't work. The transmitter DOES do RDS, but you have to hunt down a separate free program written by someone else called "JMPX". With this separate program, which is poorly documented by the way but highly functional, you can send RDS text with your program material. You have several choices for these small transmitters. This one is a good mix of ample power, and features. It's the one you want.

**Q: Is a license required for use?**
A: Where we use this there is a blanket license for church use of the transmitter with no more than 1 mile of coverage.  It hasn't been an issue here in the islands, however it depends upon the jurisdiction where it is used.

**Q: How much delay between transmission and reciever?**
A: Signal reception is Immediate and with live echo.

**Q: I want to hook to a PA system to broadcast church service, will I be able to do this?**
A: We used a similar unit (3 watts) to do this. We found an unused local frequency in the FM band, tuned the unit to that frequency, and provided small radios and earbuds to congregants sitting in the church sanctuary. This was before the days of covid 19. I think it also worked for a while for an outdoor church service where folks listened from within their cars on their car radios. Check the FCC rules about how much power you might use.

**Q: What are the input voltage and amperage needs?  Can i power this with a 12v vehicle?**
A: This will easily run in a 12 volt vehicle. It will draw less than 3 amps.

My initial experience was not great and is described below.... But with patience and correspondence the vendor stood up and made good my purchase Thank you. There is an issue with the fans on these units. They are loud and often malfunction. I own several of these to use with televisions around my house and they work pretty well... a little buzz. The last one I bought had issues with the fan out of the box, but the behavior was erratic at best. When I contacted customer support the first response sounded sincere. But all they ever did was refer me to the manual and eventually sent me a .pdf I have 6 hard copies. I know how to use the thing. When I asked a question not in the manual the question was not even acknowledged. I guess its up to me to replace the fan. On the other 5 the fan runs constantly and a little loud for my taste. But if it doesn't the thing will burn up. In General they work pretty well but not without a little help from you and your soldering iron and your amazon account. Good luck!
