If you're running your heater there's no place I could find to mount the clock on the dash or floor console where the indoor temperature wasn't affected by this by as much as 30 degrees F. The outdoor temperature sensor has a short wire on it and you're stuck with mounting somewhere around the drivers door. I found even mounting the sensor at the bottom of the fender by the door and driving for 30 minutes at 70 mph in 20 degree weather the clock still would read 35 degrees. When I would stop at a stop light the temperature would rise to 50. So it must be picking up heat from the engine or exhaust. Using a laser type heat gauge I found the only place I could put the heat sensor to get away from this problem with the wire length you're given is to mount it is in the side window post. But I would have to drill a 3/4" hole to access that area of the side post to attach it to the inside of the outside skin. I think that would weaken the structural integrity in that area to much. I would lengthen the heat sensor wire and move it somewhere else but I think the way electronic heat sensors work is to change the electrical resistance with the temperature change. So if I add to the wire length I think that would affect the temperature reading to.The clock stopped working after 2 months. I replaced the batteries with no luck. So in the garbage it went. ### ⭐⭐⭐ It looks good, but I sure wish it were better at ... *by C***X on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on February 18, 2015* I had high hopes but it misses the mark, primarily because the outside temperature sensor wire is too short. I have a 2000 Ford Taurus and mounted the unit in the middle of the dash. The wire was just long enough to reach the front door jam. Well, engine heat works its way there since the engine is mounted forward and on the same level as where the sensor must be mounted. If only the wire were long enough to put the sensor forward of the engine or somewhere away from engine heat.As has been mentioned, the backlight remains on all the time, unless you plug it into a switched power outlet. The cigarette lighter plug powers the backlight, and there is a single watch batter that runs the clock and thermometer. It looks good, but I sure wish it were better at showing the temperature.Perhaps your car has a place that's good for the sensor but not mine. . . . ### ⭐⭐ Not worth the time temp or volt *by H***P on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on June 18, 2012* This product looks exactly as pictured. i purchased this product primarily for the clock.
