I watched loads of u-tube videos on the subject as well. My understanding is that there is better control using a hand seeder vs the seeder on wheels. In these videos I don't think I saw anyone using the same brands of hand seeder and the many types of seeds, fertilizers and weed killer granules. I think everyone in the videos or articles stated that there's a specific adjustment number for anything. It's based on your lawn, it's health and how quickly you walk as you're seeding. Trial and error with the setting numbers as they can't predict exactly what each lawn needs. Several have stated that you can use any type of seeds or granules, no one I watched said anything about incompatibility. I'm no lawn expert but I really looked into your specific question and I believe you are good to go but have to adjust based on walking speed, yard's needs.
