The Onset loggers are professional quality, quite accurate, support a wide variety of sensors, reasonably priced and have always been durable and reliable for me. Before this new version of the 4 channel logger came out, I had a half dozen of the older 4 channel loggers and they were also quite good. Our dog knocked down one of them that I had in a protected spot outside -- it ended up in a puddle of water. I dried it out with a hair dryer, and it worked fine! Only nit I have is that the price of the temperature sensors are high for just being a simple thermistor sensor. Review: Not Accurate! Different channels read different temperatures - The logger did not meet specs. Different channels show different temperatures in ice bath. Contacted tech support three weeks ago in this regard. They did not help to resolve this despite calling 3 times. Now the 30 day period has passed while i was waiting for them to help resolve the problem. Version 3.7.5 is now available but I haven't tested it yet. **Q: Is the collected data downloadable to an Excel spreadsheet?** A: Yes. You will need to download the free HOBOware software from Onsetcomp.com. Within the software you have the ability to export your data as an Excel file. **Q: Will this unit accept a 4-20 ma input signal?** A: By itself this device only accepts 2.5V inputs. You can purchase their cable, as others answered, or you can make your own. The connector is a 2.5mm stereo plug. The tip is signal in, the middle is 2.5V out (to power sensors momentarily) and the base is GND. To convert 0-20mA into a 0-2.5V signal you need to place a precision 125 ohm resistor between the GND and the signal in. At this point you can set their cable, CABLE-4-20MA, as the input in the software and the display and logging should read mA. **Q: What is the AC voltage range that this unit will log without any other hardware? (except cableing)** A: The logger can't measure AC voltage without additional items. I attached a light meter (from another company) to one of the data ports, using a cable recommended by this company, and I have collected tens of thousands of data points with almost zero effort. Their free software works seamlessly on my laptop, and I’ve had no problems with data acquisition setup or retrieval. The unit weighs almost nothing, which is great.
