I used it to replace a gate lock on my Mighty Mule, so I didn't need the circuit board that came with the lock. The latch mechanism isn't nearly as strong or secure from tampering as most other locks, but certainly sufficient to keep the gate from blowing open and secure enough to keep honest people honest. The actual latch, though, was problematic. Like other non-magnetic locks, there is a fixed rod attached to the gate post and when the gate closes the latch locks behind this fixed rod. The latch, though, is V shaped, so when closed, especially in windy conditions, the rod can become trapped in the notch of the V. That prevents the latch from retracting. I added a small steel plate to the latch (by cutting a groove with a dremel on one side of the aluminum latch and using JBweld epoxy).
