With my old feeder the black birds would arrive in large flocks, eat ALL of my seed and keep all other birds away from the feeder. I'd fill up at 8am and all the seed would be gone by noon. With this feeder they have to work harder to get the seed and their bodies are so big it makes it difficult. The grackles/black birds/starlings can still get on the feeder, but only one at a time. They are no longer controlling the air space and feeders in my back yard.
