Review: A perfect device if you need to reset your network remotely - So this thing has a lot of very cool features, some that require a subscription, but the simple ones that are very beneficial - and free. For example, although my network is on a UPS, during an extended outage my satellites can come up quicker than my core router. Unfortunately a reboot doesn’t fix my network balancing. The only fix I found is to power off my router and power it back on. It is rare, but when it happens, I really need to power cycle so my legacy devices connect. This is a perfect way to remotely connect and request a reset, plus I can tell it how long the power off/on interval will be - and it truly is a button click. Now I can feel confident that I can fully reset all of my devices remotely.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: I don't like the idea of any device connecting to an external server. Can this be disabled and the device controlled without access to their Server?**
A: Yes you can disable the cloud server access function. You would have to then manage the device locally using only its internal web configuration pages. The ezOutlet would still send ping tests to the Internet and reboot when the service is lost unless you also disable this feature (Manual Control). You can also disable its NTP function and manually set the system time.

**Q: Will this reset if the router completely locks up and stops responding to LAN traffic?**
A: The default settings monitor for access to the Internet and then power cycle the attached device when the Internet is no longer reachable.  You can change the target IP to monitor to be your router's LAN IP address and then the ezOutlet will only power cycle the router when the router's LAN port stops responding.

**Q: Can i turn switched circuit on or off manually (without having a schedule) using ezdevice app?**
A: I have four of these units and know them well. Yes, you can turn off and/or reboot manually. In fact, that's exactly how I use them. We work remotely using GoToMyPC and occasionally a computer locks up. When this happens, I manually reboot, saving myself a trip to the office to do it in person. I have been using this device in this manner for  a while, and it has never failed to get the job done. Highly recommended.

The top critical review for this device is nonsense. You absolutely CAN do a remote reset with this device. That is its' purpose and it does this well Over the years I have purchased FIVE of these devices. I've seen improvement in each version. The EZ-72b is the best version yet. It literally took less than 5 minutes to get this device configured and working in the app. You just plug into the same network of the device you're using, then SCAN, and it adds this device to the app. Very easy. The device is very configurable. You can set device name, various time parameters, and how it pings. I would recommend disabling SHUTDOWN. Should you accidentally shutdown the device remotely you must physically return to the device to turn it back on because this kills your internet. However, the RESET function works perfectly to power down/power Up your modem/router. I have Comcast and if the internet goes down, you must do a power reset on the modem to restore internet service. This device performs this task flawlessly. It is the perfect solution, especially when away from home. I give this device my unconditional endorsement. It's a great device!!
