I don't recall if I've ever turban wrapped it in a bath towel. That might help retain heat. The included plastic shower caps BARELY fit over my shoulder length hair. I've torn them trying to force the fit. The pockets don't quite cover all of my scalp. But, all in all, it's ok. It gets hot, stays on my head, warms my hair up. It's better than the zip lock bag of rice I was using, but only because it's more convenient (pre-assembled into a container that doesn't change the amount of air in the pockets), easier to use (being an elastic banded cap), and better distributed (the flaxseeds are stitched into pockets. I can't decide if it needs smaller pockets or not. They might not hold heat as long, but they might be more even? An exterior insulating layer would be nice.
