Or you could say there's no such thing as cold. There is only heat. Heat is energy. Cold is the lack of heat. Therefore cold is the lack of energy. Therefore anything that insulates keeps cold out just as well as it keeps heat in, and vice versa. Insulation is a blockade for energy transfer. The blockade works both ways, keeping heat in exactly as well as it keeps heat out! **Q: what constant heat temperature can this withstand?** A: I am not sure, I only use this for hot pads. Hopefully someone else will have the answer to your question. What are you planning on making? That might help with the answer. **Q: Can this be used to line lunch bags to keep food cold along with an ice pack?** A: Insulbrite can be used to line lunch bags, unless for some reason they would be put into the microwave oven. There are aluminum fibers or threads all through insulbrite, which gives it the ability to keep in heat or cold. This is a great product and I love using it. I make pot holders with it and use 2 layers.
