## Description

Danelectro reissue the iconic 3699 fUZZ. Renowned for their cool retro looks, playability and unmistakable sound, Danelectro guitars were right there at the birth of rock and roll and are still as popular as ever. Throughout this incredible journey, Danelectro owner Steve Ridinger has also produced some of the finest foot pedals in the history of guitar effects, which includes the classic FOXX 3699 Tone Machine, one of the most iconic guitar effect pedals of all time. Now available as a reissue, the Danelectro 3699 fUZZ, mirrors all the glorious fuzz tones that made the original a must-have for thousands of players around the world, ever since it was invented by Steve in the 1970’s. Today it’s housed within a sturdy metal chassis with Danelectro’s custom wear and tear finish, aged knobs and funky large lens orange on/off indicator. Steve's also reintroduced the original analogue circuitry and included decades old NOS transistors which are gain selected so there’s a narrow gain range to produce really sweet tones along with some modern tweaks. While the unmistakable vintage core-tone voice remains, upgrades include, independent foot switchable octave, now with a significantly more pronounced octave shift, adding a new dimension to chords and extreme highs to solo note runs. The overall tone is also warmer, while a single tone control with a massive range, blends a broad array of exciting frequencies with the 3699’s classic edgy fuzz, which responds exceptionally well at any point throughout the guitar’s volume control sweep. New features also include a mini-toggle switch for a boost in the mid-range (to counteract the mid-cut of the original pedal) and true bypass switching. Steve’s often been asked why this stunning octave fuzz pedal was originally referred to as 3699. Back in the ’70s, it was considered cool for a company to have a phone number that spelled out the name of your product, so he figured out which numbers were needed to spell F-O-X-X. What he got was 3-6-9-9. To his utter amazement, this was already the FOXX company phone number, which was randomly assigned the year before by the phone company. Weird or spooky maybe, either way, the Danelectro 3699 fUZZ is the #1 choice for vintage fuzz.

Review: Wild on guitar, amazing on bass. - This fuzz pedal is a bit of a wild animal. It seems to perform at its best as a standalone pedal, and on its own power supply. Update: I can verify the Snark 9V power supply that Danelectro recommends works great with this pedal, and keeps it sounding consistent. The 3699 doesn’t like compression & eq ahead of it - a little eq afterward is fine. It almost seems to have compression built into the circuit - or that could just be an effect of the circuit components. It’s extremely quiet - when I play power chords and do a palm mute it goes so quiet it sounds like it’s gated. The 3699 not only has options galore in terms of sound shaping, but it’s also affected dramatically by the volume level of your guitar, going from shrieky and spitty to smooth & full as you dial it down. The octave switch is really interesting because the higher octave is barely noticeable but as you hold a note it not only sustains for days, but as the note dies out the higher octave note starts to ring through clear as a bell. Update: Bass guitar sounds incredible through this pedal. I tested a 51 Tele bass with a Seymour Duncan Antiquity pickup and the high octave is loud and clear and very musical when playing in the upper string positions. It’s a great-looking pedal. Someone mentioned the relic look being something that devalues it - I disagree. I like the old-stock auto parts esthetic of it. I think it’s a really cool pedal. I like it.
Review: Oh Yeah - Baby! Very Fuzzlicious!! - When I plugged my 1959 Les Paul Reissue into this pedal and ran it through my dual amp setup of Vox AC30 and Supro Black Magick the sound was pure 1970s heavy rock. Thick and chunky growling humbucker action with sustain for days. The octave setting is a bit bright and thrashy so you'll need to dial down the treble when using that setting. Otherwise, no complaints - great pedal to add to the collection.

Good old school style fuzz pedal. The fuzz is great, very fuzzy. The mid boost switch and octave are great on top of the regular fuzz. To my ear it’s a great older style fuzz, not so doomy, but that’s not what I wanted so I’m happy
