Product Description Panasonic High Quality Phone System with Answering Capability - New Retail Packaging

Review: Arrived DOA - I had to replace my old AT&T 962 and wanted to use a headset with the new phone. After researching for weeks I ordered the Panasonic KX-TS3282B. As soon as I unboxed the parts I noticed the handset was very bulky and felt like I was holding a shoe against my face. After connecting the phone to power I was disappointed to see there was no image on the display and none of the lights such as speakerphone, line1, or line2 would light. It would ring but was obnoxious. I suspect a bad power supply, so I returned the unit. Recommend an AT&T 993. Speakerphone sounds great and the handset is comfortable talking for hours.
Review: Great office phone with a few quirks - I got this phone to use in my home office. The main things I was looking for were great speakerphone performance and a mute button as I spend lots of time on conference calls and needed a way to simply leave them on speakerphone and mute for when I'm not actively talking. For the speakerphone portion I knew I wanted a phone that required separate AC power as the phones that try to power the speaker phone simply off the phone line power aren't very good. This phone does use the separate AC power adapter and the speakerphone works great. The speaker is nice and loud and I never have complaints from people on the other end when I am talking on speakerphone. The mute button is right along the bottom of the phone making it easy to access. My only complaint with the mute button is that it doesn't have any indication to show that it is enabled. The speakerphone button has a nice red LED light next to it to show that the speakerphone is on. It would have been nice if the mute button had a similar light to let you know when you have mute on. As it is the only indication that the phone is muted is via a "MUTE" notice on the main LCD display at the top of the phone. Unfortunately the display at the top of the phone can't be angled up at all so it lays almost flat with the phone, and at the same time it is not backlit at all. This means that the display is VERY hard to read when you are sitting at your desk. You have to lean forward until your head is almost directly above the phone in order to read the display, and thus tell if you have mute on or off. The phone allows two lines to be used and also has a conference call button to connect both lines together. It also has a headset input so you can easily attach a headset if you'd prefer to use that instead of the speakerphone or handset. The white strip down the side of the phone looks similar to a speed dial list on other phones, but that's not what it is for on this phone. This phone can actually be used as part of a multiple phone setup for your small office or even in your house if you want. You will need to install this same model of phone in all areas but once you do you can assign each phone an extension number and then call between the phones directly or page through the remote phones. This makes a nice little intercom system without requiring an actual central phone system. I don't use this feature since I just have a single phone but it seems like a nice addition. Overall I am pleased with the phone. The lack of a light on the mute button is a slight annoyance but honestly I couldn't find any other phones with the features I wanted so I can live with it. If you're looking for a desk phone with a good speakerphone then you should really consider this model.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can I transfer incoming calls between units/extensions?**
A: * You cannot transfer calls between extensions using the same line. The other extension already has access to the call on that line. To alert someone near another extension to a call, you can either (1) yell, or (2) call them on the intercom and ask them to pick up.* To transfer a call from one line to another, push "flash." That puts the call on hold. Then, without hanging up, dial the other line (or any other line). If no one picks up, hit flash again and you're back to the call. If someone does pick up, hit flash and you will have created a three-way or conference call. You can then either stay on the call or hang up, which should not terminate the call for the other participants.

**Q: can I hang it on the wall? or it sits only on a desk?**
A: Has the mounting plate on the back to be able to hang it on a wall.

**Q: Is it hard wired and analog or a VOIP phone**
A: Hard wired

**Q: Can you use a different phone model (at&t phone) or a different panasonic phone as the second line?**
A: AT&T phones not good. Want 1 phone for 2 lines so need different Panasonic model.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great phone with caution about use with wireless headsets
*by M***N on March 19, 2008*

I just started working from home and am on the phone most of the day. I needed a two-line speakerphone that I could use with an advanced wireless headset that I bought from Plantronics (SupraPlus Wireless CS351N with lifter). I echo the other comments both about how well this phone works (it's a great general phone). It also works very well with my headset with one small exception (see below). I also second the recommendations for a backlit or tilted display and a line-in-use indicator that works whenever the other line is in use and not just with like phones. My one big frustration - now resolved - with the phone was an apparent incompatibility with my headset. Note that the speakerphone function and the headset function on the TS3282 share the same indicator light and button. Apparently it's easy to confuse the phone about the function that is actually being used. When I first would attempt to hang up the phone using the button on my headset, the lifter replaced the handset but the phone would go into speakerphone mode. I later figured out that the problem was a too-short delay between the message to disconnect from the headset base and the handset being replaced in the cradle. The resolution to this problem, which I discovered by accident, was simply to set the lifter to the hightest setting. Evidently the fraction of a second makes a world of difference.
