I bet you can guess what each was used for ;)I have a ton of SI pain during my pregnancy and was suggested by my chiropractor to switch to gel based ice packs to help form around my back. The day I received these I put one in the freezer and used the other as my heating pad. I love how long these are as they can easily cover one side of my back to the other. I have had zero issued with them in the past month that I've been using them.Heating the bags was fairly easy as well. Just be sure to move the gel around after you take it out of the microwave each time. It helps to distribute the heat and so that you're not ruining the bag. Both the heat and ice stayed very well for the duration I needed them for. The frozen bag wasn't stiff and after a few bends after taking out of the freezer it was easy to form around my back with no stiffness to the bag. ### ⭐⭐ Tedious and Not Effective Enough as a Heating Pad *by D***A on Reviewed in the United States on April 25, 2016* I used this as a hot pack and I have to say, I'm disappointed, considering all the raving reviews. The process of using it as a hot pack is quite tedious and manual: you have to put it in the microwave 3 times at 30 seconds at a time, each time having to distribute the heat. I found this part irritating after a while: 1) because it's time consuming and 2) because it gets hot when you try to move the hot parts to the less warm parts of the pack, which is instructed post-every-30-seconds of the microwaving and you have to be careful not to burn yourself. Then when I put it against my skin it was too hot, so I had to put a towel beneath it, but then I couldn't feel the warmth anymore, so I had to find a thin scarf to put it underneath to protect my skin and pin it with a clothes-pin so it would stay wrapped around my knee.Too annoying and not effective enough: the pack would only stay heated as needed for about ten minutes and even then, the heat wasn't well distributed on my knee, and would have to do the microwaving all over again. Not going to work for me: I had to order an electric heating pad instead, similar to something my physical therapists uses, and it's actually a bit cheaper. Hopefully that'll work a lot simpler and more effectively than this one. FYI: after just a couple of weeks of use, the plastic wrap became creased/wrinkled everywhere, too. Just not a good buy for me at all. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good product *by D***W on Reviewed in the United States on October 22, 2019* The cold time is not as long as I would like, but sometimes this is just what you need for bursitis or a sprain. I combine this with an ice pack for longer cold at night and am surprised at how much improvement I have the next morning. Good product. You might need to wrap it in a thin towel or weak thick pajamas! A very nice thing to have when you need it.I combine this with the smaller pack and often fold this in half.
