They're wide, so I either have to find wide shoes (rare), or wear a half size to a full size up to get enough width to prevent my toes from being squeezed. I also have high arches and a weak ankle (the result of an injury many years ago). Without a massive amount of arch support, my weak ankle allows my foot to roll inward effecting both my foot's position on the pedal and my pedaling motion. In recent years I've taken to putting plastic arch supports beneath the stock insoles in my shoes. This has helped, but not solved, my problems and keeping the supports in place is a pain.I did some research and found a suggestion regarding metatarsal support for cycling insoles. If you don't know what this looks like, it takes the form of a "bump" in the insole directly behind the ball of the foot. I did some more research and found excellent reviews and pictures of the Icebug insoles. I decided to give them a try.They're pricey but, out of the box, you can tell they are well designed and well made. I bought a size 12 US to fit a size 47 Shimano road cycling shoe and they fit with minimal trimming on both sides of the toes. The length was perfect. The arch and metatarsal bump are both very pronounced. They look like they'd be uncomfortable, but they conform to my feet perfectly.And they seem to work. I only have two thirty mile rides with them so far, but my foot comfort is much improved and I don't have to fool with separate arch supports. If things continue to go well, I'm going to buy a second pair for my mountain bike shoes. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ GREAT INSOLE! *by J***B on Reviewed in the United States on April 16, 2016* Finally an insert that I really really like! I have high arches, metatarsal pain, heel pain, plantar fasciitis, etc.. horrible feet. I needed something that was going to cradle the 3 arches whilst flexing to allow my arch to stretch naturally. They are pricey, they squeak somewhat, but man they feel really good in my Brooks glycerin shoes! Go to their website for sizing info, I have a size 9 women's shoes (Brooks Glycerin) and ordered a size 8 Icebugs. They go all the way to all edges, if a milimeter larger they wouldn't have fit in my shoes... Be aware there is a metatarsal support ('golf ball' under the ball of your foot) which may feel very prominent the first couple times you use this, but I think you get used to it in short order and it really helps cradle your metatarsal arch/pad. They are not joking when it comes to a high arch support. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Metatarsal bump is a bit much *by R***X on Reviewed in the United States on September 23, 2018* I had purchased these for my cycling shoes since there have been some good reviews online about them. I will say the thin profile fits the cycling shoes nicely and the lining is a nice smooth material. My two issues are the arch support and metatarsal bump. The arch support is pretty flexible which doesnt seem to provide enough support when dealing with the forces of cycling. Second the metatarsal bump is extremely pronounced. While this may be a personal preference, I found this to be very irritating, and feels like there's a large lump under your foot at all times.
