It was SLOW if connected to a USB hub and probably won't work for making phone calls. Since the software to run the device is on the V-Phone, it will take time to boot up and start working. It also took over the sound on my laptop so it came through the V-Phone only. I may have been able to stop that but if I am actually using the device, I doubt I could have used the phone function that way.I got it working with Windows 7 in COMPATABILITY MODE using XP SP2 or 3. Called Vonage and got it registered and working for both outgoing and incoming calls. To add a new device to your Vonage account, you do need to call them the first time so they can add it. Afterwards you can switch to any registered device already present on your account yourself.Yes, you do need to either have a new phone number or be prepared to login to your Vonage account and change which device you use. It is a bit of a nuisance unless you are going to be gone for a while. Then it can be worthwhile.What I don't know is if this device will work with wireless connections since it is slower than using wired.
