I would just like the floor to be slightly warm vs heating the area.** A: We use schluter Ditra heat or prodeso mat for our installations. We don’t lay it any more than 3 knobs, which I believe equates to roughly 3 3/4”. Any more than that , you’ll risk feeling cold spots in between wires. It's been on my wish list for some time now so when we decided to remodel the bathroom it was not to be left out. After shopping around I found this to be one of the better deals, I was also familiar with the OJ Microline thermostat so this was a bonus. Our contractor installed the heating cable using that new uncoupling membrane, and from what I could see it looked fairly easy, who knows I may even attempt the next one on my own.
