They have a solid handle grip that allows the user to maintain full control. They are heavy duty and do not move once they are placed on the ground. They are heavy--the exact weight advertised. I have a pair of 30, 55, 80, 95, and 110 lbs. I use the light ones for arms and the heavier ones for dumbbell chest presses. They give me a great workout. I don't plan to return to the gym!
