Combined with the smell, I almost wondered if the plastic wasn't fully cured somehow. Packaging was wrapped in paper (so, + star for plastic-free packaging), and just so you know how sticky it really was, the paper stuck and tore when I removed it. So, not quite glue, but not just a tacky surface either. I tried washing with soap and water, and also alcohol, but it wouldn't really come off. A wax of some kind maybe? It seemed OK structurally, so I went ahead and installed it.After having it up for a few weeks, the smell seems to be gone, and it only has the sticky residue on the holds I don't use often, and it seems to work fine. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Top Quality *by D***J on Reviewed in the United States on August 16, 2016* Metolius only makes quality.
